Not All Security Camera Systems Are Built the Same — And Neither Is the Installation

Hardwired 4K security camera installation across Waterford Township, Oakland County, and Metro Detroit.

Most people focus on the camera. Wrong move.

The camera is only about 20% of what makes a system actually work. The other 80% is the installation — where each camera goes, what angle it covers, how it’s wired, and whether the installer understood your property before picking up a drill.

Get that right and your system works every time it needs to.

Camera vs. System

There’s a big difference between having cameras and having a system

A camera records. A system protects. A camera on your wall is just hardware — a system is everything working together.

Single camera vs. complete security system — a camera records and is basic and isolated, a full system protects with complete coverage and coordination

Just a camera

  • Records whatever it’s pointed at
  • Alerts you for bugs, wind, and shadows
  • Stores footage you have to go find after the fact
  • Works only until the WiFi drops

A complete system

  • Covers every angle that matters on your specific property
  • Alerts you only when a real person or vehicle is detected
  • Records continuously with instant mobile alerts
  • Hardwired — no WiFi, no dropped connections, no missed footage

One gives you the feeling of security. The other gives you actual security.

How We Build Your System

A proper system starts before we ever choose a camera

Most installers show up with cameras already on the truck. Nobody walked the property. Nobody checked the angles. Nobody asked what you needed to see. That’s not how we work.

1

We talk first

Before anything else — we have a real conversation. What challenges are you having? What do you need to see, and why? That conversation shapes everything that follows.

2

Free virtual site survey

We pull up your property on Google Maps, assess your layout, entry points, and blind spots — and give you a realistic ballpark before anyone drives anywhere.

3

In-person property walk

We come out and walk the property with you. Every camera angle verified on the ground. You see exactly what each camera will capture before anything is installed.

4

Installation day

We arrive knowing exactly what needs to be done. Every camera in the right position. Every wire run clean. Every setting configured before we leave.

Home or Business?

The answer changes everything

For Homeowners

You want to know what’s happening around your property. Who’s at the door. Whether your car is safe. Whether your kids got home. A residential system is designed around your specific property — your entry points, your blind spots, your daily routine.

Residential Security Cameras

For Business Owners

You need more than coverage — you need accountability. Who showed up. What happened after hours. Whether the parking lot is secure. A commercial system is designed around your facility — your high-risk areas, your after-hours vulnerabilities, your documentation needs.

Commercial Security Cameras

Knowledge Base

Questions people ask before they call

Q.How much does a security camera system cost?

Most residential systems range from $800 to $2,500. Commercial varies. We never quote a final price without seeing the property first.

Q.What happens if my power goes out?

Cameras stop recording during a full power outage — just like any other electrical device. Battery-backup options are available and worth discussing during your site survey.

Q.Will cameras work in Michigan winters?

Yes. Every camera we install is rated for outdoor use — rain, snow, ice, and extreme cold. Michigan weather has never been an issue.

Q.What if I already have cameras?

We’ll look at what you have and tell you straight whether it’s worth upgrading. We install our own GuruVision systems only — that way one company stands behind the cameras, the wiring, and the workmanship.

Q.How far can cameras see at night?

Cheap cameras lose usable quality beyond 30 to 60 feet in the dark. GuruVision super low-light technology captures full-color footage well beyond that range — your whole property, actually covered after dark.

Q.DVR vs NVR — what’s the difference?

DVR works with analog cameras. NVR works with IP cameras and delivers significantly better image quality. Every system we install uses current NVR technology.

Q.How long is footage stored?

Most systems store 2 to 4 weeks of continuous footage before older recordings are overwritten. Larger storage options are available.

Q.Can I add cameras later?

Yes — as long as your NVR has available channels. We always plan for future expansion during the initial design.

Q.How many cameras do I need?

We don’t recommend a number until we’ve walked your property. A small home might need 4. A larger home with a detached garage might need 8. A business is a different conversation entirely.
