Every installation done right the first time.
My name is Roland Rowlings. I’m the owner, the installer, and the person who picks up the phone when you call.
I didn’t stumble into this industry. I built my way into it — one job, one system, one property at a time. This is my story.

I started at Time Warner Cable — installing digital cable boxes door to door, then moving up to Multi-Dwelling Specialist selling cable to apartment complexes and commercial accounts. I was good at it. Good enough to win the #2 salesperson award for digital cable sales in the entire United States — and a fully paid trip to Las Vegas for my family.
But I could see what was coming. Satellite was taking over. So I invested my own money and became a Dish Network dealer — eventually one of the biggest in Oakland County.
While running the dealership, I pitched my Dish rep on integrating DVR technology with security cameras so I could sell camera systems alongside TV to commercial businesses. They laughed at me. That was the moment I knew I was onto something.
I flew to California for weeks of intensive training with a company called Alarm King — camera angles, megapixels, DVR configuration, everything about how a properly installed system works. I came back to Michigan and built my own systems by hand — PC-based machines with video capture cards. I put a demo system inside a Pelican case — cameras, monitor, DVR, everything — and went business to business pulling it out and showing owners exactly what a real security camera system could do.
That’s how Crime Busters Security got started.
Crime Busters Security worked in my favor for years — just not the way you’d expect. When I walked into a business and said I was from Crime Busters Security, the receptionist assumed I was a security guard agency and waved me straight through to the owner. Once I was in front of the owner, I pitched what I actually sold — security camera systems. I closed a lot of business that way.
Here’s the key: if that gatekeeper had known I was there to sell cameras, they’d have blocked me. “We already have cameras,” and the door closes.
But the internet changed everything. My leads stopped coming from walking in cold and started coming from Google — and online, “Crime Busters Security” didn’t tell anyone what I actually did. So I made the switch: Security Camera Guru — Camera Installer. A name that tells anyone who finds it on Google exactly what I do. That was the right decision. I’ve never looked back.

People ask why I care so much about getting every installation right. Why I spend so much time walking properties. Why I never rush a job. The honest answer — that’s just who I am.
Every home or business I install becomes my home. My business. My brain never stops thinking about the right camera angle, the right cable route, the right setting for that specific property. I research new technology constantly. I buy systems and test them personally — if they don’t meet my standard, they don’t go on a customer’s property.
I got tired of apologizing for other people’s equipment. So I chose my own.
I got tired of systems designed over the phone without anyone seeing the property.
I got tired of installers who showed up with cameras already on the truck and never asked what the customer needed to see.
Twenty-five years has taught me one thing — there’s no shortcut that doesn’t eventually cost the customer.

GuruVision is my exclusive 4K AI camera line — built to fix every problem I kept seeing in the field. If I wouldn’t put it on my own home, it doesn’t go on yours.
